math strategy

W.A.L.T use place value partitioning to solve addition problems.


Last week my group the triangles were using the strategy of place value partitioning to solve addition problems. This is when you add the hundreds, then tens, then ones together separately, and then you add them altogether at the end. Below is a picture of how to do this. 



here are a few problems you can work out 


1. 150 + 80  

2. Caleb had 276 sheep and he gave 96 to Jess how many sheep     does Caleb have now.

3. 368 + 46 

4. 58 + 74
