Aroha Island camp

 W.A.L.T upload my reflection of camp to my blog and write about.

Last week the year five and 6's went to Aroha Island for the end of year. We were all so exited. Aroha Island is near Kerikeri. When you get there you are greeted by many native birds and trees like to tuis, fantails, pigeons, kereus, pohutakawa and totara. There is a narrow Causeway across because it is surrounded by water and at night you can sometimes hear kiwis and even see them if you're lucky.

Limerick poem

Two days ago we did a limerick poem it was really fun                                                                                here is mine there was a farmer from Alabama I really like to eating fat llama he liked them fresh fried with steak on the side and the llama bananas. To write a limerick poem lines 1 2 and 5 have to  the last word has to rhyme and and lines 3 and 4 the last has to rhyme.

Reflection

My favourite part was doing line 3 and 4 because it was really funny

I learnt that poems can be very short but really funny

The hardest part was drawing the picture and coming up with the last line.

Matai bay brochure

Last week we made a brochure about Matai bay here are some things I put in the brochure. What you can do at Matai bay, fish that you will find at Matai, what the Rahui is and were is Matai bay we and inserted three lines. 

 

Reflection

I enjoyed it because there was so many colourful fish I even saw some cray fish. 

I didn't learn much because I've already been diving before.

   

Kiwi Can

W.A.L.T upload a post showing what we learnt in Kiwi Can today.

Today we had kiwi can our focus was respect the catchphrase were we respect our school, we will do it because we are cool. We played snap, crackle, pop it is when you get in groups of three and everyone gets to be snap, crackle or pop and the leader says one of the three and who ever it is has to run around the circle and grab the sandal. We also played so, ma, ca, io and the last game we played was GKQ.

Reflection

I showed respect by not pushing and shoving people in the games.

My favourite part was playing snap, crackle, pop because I won 

the hardest was answering the GKQ question.
     

Pool session with Oliver

 Yesterday we went to Te Punawai-Ora pools to do a pool session with Oliver to learn how to snorkel because next week on Thursday we are going to Matai Bay. First we put on our wet suit and got mask , snorkel and flippers and hoped in the pool. We did a few activities and swim around the pool it was fun. Then we had to take the wet suit off it was quite hard. 

My favourite part was diving under water because I could hold my breath for a long time. 

My goal is to get a scallop while snorkelling.

Waitangi trip

On Tuesday we went to the Waitangi treaty grounds. We went on a really flash bus it took an hour and a half to get there. When we got there we had to go into the learning centre and then we went to down to a huge waka that had carving on it. We also the stump they made the waka out of it meany years ago. After that we went back to the learning centre on the way we went and saw some pictures of the people signing the treaty meany years ago. Then we went back to the learning centre and did some scratch.

Reflection

What did you enjoy? my favourite part was seeing the waka because it was huge. 

What did you learn? I learnt some new blocks on scratch.

Kiwi can

Today we had kiwi can it was really fun we are learning about accountability. Accountability is being honest for what you do our catchphrase were we are honest we are true we take ownership for what we do. The first game we played was bang. The second game we played was colour run how it works is the leader calls a colour and we have to touch it in three seconds. The third game we played was traffic light the forth game we played was stop jump clap walk it was really fun.

Reflection 

What did you enjoy? my favourite part was playing the games because they were fun.

Sudoku

 W.A.L.T upload my maths learning task to my blog and write about it 

Today we had Mr Metzger and our maths task was to do a Sudoku. A Sudoku is where you have to do either 4, 6  or 9 numbers in a grid. It is really hard. I completed 4 Sudoku puzzles and got them all right. 

 Reflection 

What did I enjoy? My favourite part was doing the first one because it was easy.

Kiwican

Today we had kiwi can it was really fun. Our word was accountability it means being honest and taking ownership for what we do. We played a game called low tide high tide if the leader said high tide we had to stand up if she said low tide we had to sit down and the last person to get out won. We also played GKQ our catchphrases were we are honest we are true we take ownership for what we do. I was also a kiwi caner here are some photos. 

Reflection

My favourite part was playing GKQ because I won.

The hardest part was playing the high tide low tide game because I got confused because I couldn't hear 

  

 

Writing template

Last week we had to write a writing template about our favourite place to be and why. I chose my farm because it is a place I can relax and have fun. We had to describe what it looks like, smells like, tastes like and why it is your favourite place here it is.

What you enjoyed? my favourite part was doing looks paragraph because it was easy

Geometric art

Last week we had to make geometric art I chose to do a bull here is how we made them. First we had to find a picture then we had to trace it and put lines in it. Then we had to colour it with different colours I chose red, orange and yellow. It looked amazing my favourite bit was its horns hear it is.

Reflection

My favourite part was drawing the bull because it turned out really good and realistist. 

The hardest part was getting the sides and eyes of the bull positioned in the correct place. It was a little lopsided. 

This task was really fun.

Comma quiz

Last week we had to make a comma quiz or a animation. I chose to do a comma quiz with Rusty he explained how to use commas while I did the quiz. It was fun and easy if you got a question wrong you had to go back to start and if you got one right you go to the next question here it is .

Reflection 

My favourite part was making the end slide.

Next time I think we can add more questions

Nature art

Yesterday we had Mrs Hall our task was to choose a type of tree. I chose a Nikau palm then we had to draw patterns around the tree it was really fun. The Nikau palm was the hardest to draw the colours I used was white, dark green and brown. Here it is.

The hardest part was drawing the tree.

Next time I think I could improve on adding more colours.

maths angles creation

A couple of days ago we had to make a creation using angles it had to include a right angle a acute angle a obtuse angle a straight angle a reflex angle. First we had to draw it in our book and measure the angles to make sure they were right. Then once we had done we had to make it in a Google drawing it was quite hard here is mine.

Today we had to create a poster about how to make quality blog comment it was really fun I put mine in lots of different little boxes. I added some photos to and I change the fonts we had to create the poster on what we learnt last week here is mine.

Today we had Kiwi can we played two games stop, walk, jump, and traffic light it was really fun. The kiwi caners for today were Frances and Xavier catchphrase were right is right even if no one is doing it wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing. Here are some photos.

Yesterday for my writing task I had to write description sentence about the picture we were given. I did two one about a baby and one about an elephant. It was really fun I really like doing descriptive sentences. 

But it was still quite hard the elephant one was the easiest these writings were only practices 

for the big one we are going to do it next week.

Kiwi can

Today we had Kiwi can we we play the game called shock wave how it worked was jodeci the leader told us to all hold hands and then she would squeeze our hand really tight. And we had to pass it on to the person next to us the boys won and we broke the record to get round circle the fastest it was really fun. then we have to do the catchphrase it was right is right even if no one is doing it wrong is wrong even if everyone is doing it. And then we played mini netball that was really fun too
